Neighborhood Association Program Handbook(PDF)

Mission:
The Neighborhood Association Program (NAP) is an effort to improve the livability and quality of life Mankato neighborhoods through promotion and facilitation of citizen communication.

Why should my neighborhood organize?
Organizing your neighborhood will foster communication and interaction between neighbors and will help to boost neighborhood pride and neighborhood integrity. This new sense of community will promote citizen involvement in activities and efforts that will help improve the quality of life in your neighborhood.

What services will Mankato offer to my neighborhood? The City will:
  • Provide documentation describing how to form a neighborhood association how to get the members of the neighborhood involved, and training opportunities.
  • Provide a dedicated staff liaison to answer questions, attend neighborhood meetings, assist the neighborhood in its effort to organize, and provide information of City projects.
  • Provide a communication tools in the form of neighborhood newsletters and web site access.
  • Provide annual mini-grants to aid in identification and beautification projects.
What is required to be a recognized Neighborhood Association?
  • Minimum of three (3) meetings per year and host a National Night Out Party
  • The Neighborhood Support Officer will assist the neighborhood in establishing bylaws, board representation, and neighborhood annual goals
