Frequently Asked Questions

Are the fixed route buses wheelchair accessible?
Yes. All buses operated by the Greater Mankato Transit System are wheelchair accessible, and have been since 1994. No pre-scheduling is required to access this service.

May I bring my bike along?
Yes. All of our buses, with the exception of our Para-transit vehicles, are equipped with bike racks. There is no additional charge to use the bike racks, and any of our friendly drivers will be happy to show you how quick and easy the racks are to use.

Where can I catch the bus?
The Greater Mankato Transit System does have posted bus stops and bus shelters (sited for heavier traffic). However, our system operates on a “flag down policy”. This means that you may catch the bus by standing at any corner along the route and flag down the driver as the bus approaches your location. Be sure to stand on the corner, so the rear of the bus does not encroach into a cross lane of traffic. Drivers will not make stops at any of the following locations:
  1.  A green light that would impede the flow of traffic.
  2.  Stops other than the posted stop at the River Hills Mall.
  3.  Any stop, which in the opinion of the driver may constitute a safety hazard.

Where can I get a bus schedule?
Bus schedules are available at any of the following locations:
  1. Online
  2. From any bus driver
  3. Intergovernmental Center, 507-387-8600, 10 Civic Center Plaza
